100 imigrants towed into Cádiz

The immigrants were spotted on a boat some ten miles off shore

A boat with about 100 immigrants on board is currently being towed into port in Cádiz, after being spotted some 10 miles to the west of Chipiona today.

The 30 metre vessel is being towed by the customs vessel 'Sertosa 18'.

It comes as the number of small boats heading for the shores of Southern Spain has reduced over recent weeks.

Now cooperation agreements with Morocco and the new high-tech SIVE detection system are thought to be responsible, together with the new route opened up to the Canaries.
